Towable Division Driver Qualifications

NOTE: If you do not or cannot meet all the truck and experience requirements, do not apply.

I. Driver Compliance Requirement

1. Valid chauffers or CDL drivers license (as required by your state)

2. D.O.T. long form physical with expiration card

3. Current MVR from the state where your license is issued

4. Copy of your social security card.

5. D.O.T. drug screen ( to be taken in Elkhart, IN )

II. RAD Contractor Requirements

1. Contractors should have access to an ATM card or credit card for emergency situations

2. All contractors ar required to have cell phone or pager

3. All contractors are required to have a camera

4. Road atlas

III. Charges if purchased in Elkhart IN

Pick Up Truck Qualifications

I. Vehicle Requirements

1. Not to Exceed five (5) model years.

2. 3/4 or 1 ton full size or dually pick-up truck.

3. Minimum 8,000 GVW recommended

4. Minimum 5.9 liter diesel engine

5. Minimum 30 gallon fuel capacity ( additional tank must be DOT approved )

6. West coast type, swing arm mirrors, with 5" convex mirrors

7. Vehicle plated at weight suitable for RV transport. ( 26,000#)

8. Annual DOT vehicle inspection

9. Non-trucking liability insurance ($500,000.00)

II. Towing Equipment

1. 10,000 # rated receiver hitch with weight distribution bars and 2 5/16 hitch ball.

2. Optional frame-mounted classic 5th wheel, 18,000 lb. minimum gooseneck with 2 5/16 " hitch ball

3. ( 1 ) 2" hitch ball

4. ( 2 ) 6' safety chains

5. Mud flaps on rear of truck with no more than 4 1/2 " clearance from the bottom of the flap to the ground.

6. 12 Volt battery

III. Safety Equipment

1. minimum 5 BC rated fire extinguisher, must be mounted.

2. Set of three bi-directional triangles ( DOT approved )

3. Additional fuses and bulbs for truck and trailer.

IV. Electrical Requirements

1. ( 2 ) #57 Bargman receptacles, one on front left side of bed near 5th wheel, one near hitch for travel trailers

2. Electric brake control.

3. 18 " pig tail for # 57 Bargman receptacle

V. Tools

1. Lug wrench and hand tools ( socket set, pliers, screw drivers )

2. Minimum 3 ton hydraulic jack

3. Tire gauge and steel tape measure

4. Electrical tester

Auto & Boat Haul Away Division

I. Truck Requirments

1.   1 Ton diesel engine dually pick-up truck or Semi-tractor not to exceed 10 model years

2.   Not to exceed (5) model years, minimum 11,500 GVWR

3.   Frame mounted 5th wheel (minimum 24,000# rating)

4.   Minimum 30 gallon fuel capacity (additional must be DOT approved)

5.   West Coast type swing arm mirrors with 5” convex mirrors

6.   Annual DOT vehicle inspection

7.   Non-trucking liability insurance ($500,000)

8.   Licensing (apportion plate minimum 36,000#)

9.   Electric brake controller if applicable

10. Applicable state permits IE: Oregon & NY Hut

II. Trailer Requirments

1.   53’ X 102 wide 3 car ramp trailer or 3 car drop deck trailer with loading ramps

2.   Tie –down straps & wheel straps to secure a minimum 3 cars

3.   Center –rail with a minimum 4 ball stands

4.   Electric winch minimum 9,000# with battery

5.   Plated at a weight suitable to haul 36,000#

6.   Spare tire

7.   Wide load flags

8.   Annual DOT inspection

III Safety Equipment
